Jamar Bernard Woody (35) assaults his 3 month old pregnant girlfriend Shatory Irving (26) in a store in Roanoke, Virginia. The assault happened in June 2016. Woody was sentenced to 8 years in January of 2017 for Malicious Wounding. Woody cried out at his sentencing "I don't want my sons to grow up just seeing pictures!"

Woody repeatedly pummeled Irving (who was using crutches for a broken ankle) in the store until an employee gets him out of the store.

Woody opened an inch long split along Irving's forehead while beating her. Allegedly Irving violated a protection order against her back in 2014 taken out against her by Woody. They had an argument & Irving began to smash windows at Woody's grandmother's house.

During the trial Irving offered testimony on behalf of Woody in an attempt to reduce jail time. It didn't work. Woody has mental health issues & a criminal history. Woody had a Federal Drug Conviction in 2008. The sentence was suspended but because of this conviction the drug charge can be revoked.

Judge Chris Clemens recommended that Woody get psychiatric counseling.
